ABOUT LENTERA TIMUR

Indonesia was born from the great era.

The ambition of Europeans to conquer the world, one was Malay Archipelago, made the brown skin countries united. Resistance was launched for one purpose only: to repel Europeans.

For that resistance, Indonesia was created as a symbol of the united countries. Later on, the reverberation of the resistance against European colonialism was continued for Indonesia, because the darkness was not worth to continue.

United countries repelled invaders means to be a political confirmation of a state. Although it’s finished, political confirmation of these countries still leaves many questions. One of them is how to actually form relationship amongst the countries?

State should be the child who never forgets the countries who gave birth to her. However, cultural confirmation of these countries with the new one named Indonesia is completely untouched.

What’s called national culture of Indonesia is still problematic up to now. What often happens is the culture of certain countries are claimed as national culture without confirmation.

How sad, the cultural dialectic is not growing freely in this great country. There are no equal rights to obtain the opportunity to express for the cultures who was developing a great nation. More sad because they even have become marginalized.

This fact obstructs the view of the ideals of why this nation was born and what this republic was founded for. Now we are like running back into the dark alley. LenteraTimur came because of this awareness.

Online media Lentera Timur tries to make corrections for the social-cultural life in Indonesia. Lentera Timur tries to explore the cultures of Indonesia symmetrically. Whatever the phenomenon is, Lentera Timur will report them in a pluralistic perspective.
